Book Reviews of The Satanic ScripturesBook Review: Pastor of church believes 'Bin Laden Did It' Wacky Conspiracy Theory Summary: 1 Stars
Peter H. Gilmore has stated that 'there are a lot of stupid people'in his reply to a question on why he believes that there is no supreme being of some sort.
Now I love to read between the lines and words of this book and am delighted that Peter H. Gilmore is the current Magus of the Church of Satan. Mr. Gilmore states he is fascinated by most things supernatural and yet dismisses most if not all of it even though he admitted on The Strange at Coast To Coast Aam that he had seen a ghost which he felt indicated some sort of evidence that a portion of us might be able to survive bodily death.
But one of his most famous quotes ever , is 'we're tissue'. Peter is a warm , gentle , courageous and extremely well versed man , and not one of the typical dark robed joes that are described in early SRA books which portrayed satanism from a self - professed victim's point of view. We're not just tissue - we're not a form of cosmic accident. We just are. We're manifestations of the Infinite.
In actuality the first Satanists have always been the theists - the rationalist ones would come later during an age when rationalism was crumbling in a vain attempt to keep it going on. And today's most sinister Satanic 'organization'is not longer the Church of Satan as many have emphasized inaccurately but ONA.
The most damming part of this book is the Bin Laden Did It part where Peter decides to deny the truth about 9 - 11 by attempting to present the official explanation as an 'alternative view'to an otherwise , seemingly 'official'conspiracy view which ruins the book and presents nothing new whatsoever concerning materialistic Satanism. I should perhaps dub Gilmore's Satanism as Gilmorean.
Peter H. Gilmore is nonetheless a person I trust and someone I find extremely fun and enlightening to listen to on radio shows and elsewhere. I felt I needed to review a couple of times this one star criticism of mine to the point that it'd become entirely satisfactory and reasonable and I am truly sorry I did not take time to do that earlier.
Now , if we took 25 official explanations from government or otherwise owned media journals and tabloids and put them in a room , there wouldn't be much worth reading - and yet believers in all official explanations often wish people to take THAT seriously. In the Church of Satan we have lots of people who agree or disagree on such things and other interesting themes , and the Church was much more fun during the days of AntonLaVey , and I think it'll again become extremely interesting once Xerses replaces Anton's role.
Without adding Bin Laden to the picture the book might have become far more sucessful than it really became.
Peter and many other scholars on this issue are absolutely right in encouraging people to be skeptical about such claims and always draw their own conclusions. But when posting claims that are fundamentally inaccurate or based on outright lies such as that 'Bin Laden Did It'they must eventually face the consequences of doing so. I have done so myself.
Numerous 'churches of Satan'have existed throughout human history and the people of the United States have been very lucky to be blessed by the advise and intellect and information , as well as seriously funny humour of Anton LaVey and such creative and skillful persons as Peter H. Gilmore. And of course by 'pastor'I am merely referring to his 'magus'title.
As everyone knows today 9 - 11 wasn't orchestrated by some sort of Al kind of Qaeda somewhere , but all of that has been analyzed and explored in many other books. I still keep the book however and find it to be funny and exciting at times. The overall text of the book was extremely fun to skip across and I WILL read the book entirely.
When making books that mention historical events and national tragedies such as 9 - 11 , let us be as accurate and our investigation into those events as thorough and well done as we possibly can before we actually post anything.
This book is written during times when the haydays of 'the Illuminati', that is because those groups are so many that group which was involved with the worship of the composite solar deities had reached the end of their time. Inside the Church of Satan are also many people who are aiding us in regaining our freedoms and they are certainly right in doing so. I wish I could have given this book more stars but I felt to be honest with myself that I cannot as of present.
But that's just me though........
