Book Reviews of The Secret SupperBook Review: Totally different than The DaVinci Code Summary: 5 Stars
as I was roaming around Amazon I came across this book. It sounded very Code of DeVinci-ish and was like, "another one", being already sick of Dan Brown (even though I liked the book). Yet, I read some of the reviews that stated this was better than The DaVinci Code, as well as coming from a different perspective. It's true, all of it. This is a good read, and has a lot more to do with Da Vinci than any of the others in this genre. It also has a lot about the Cathars, which I had only vaguely heard of, but they are some sort of branch of Christianity which the Popes found quite heretical, always interesting, that. Finally, it seems to be a more scholerly novel, so I'm giving it a 5 and going to say, after some thought, it is better than The Da Vinci Code.
Book Review: Great Read Summary: 5 Stars
By now the "Da Vinci Code" has left more then just a mark on the book world and has dictated almost what books are hitting the shelves, still to this day. "The Secret Supper" follows in this line. But do not be fooled, this is not some cookie-cutter book that is trying to piggie-back off of "Code's" success.
For me, the book started off a little slow, but about 50-70 pages into the novel I was hooked. Sierra takes you on an exciting adventure through the mind of Leonardo and 14th century Milan while the master works to complete one of his most famous works.
Filled with secrets and eventually answers, this book is a must read from one of Spain's most exciting authors of today.
Book Review: ELBA-VIE-LEB-NU/UN-BEL-IEV-ABLE!! Summary: 5 Stars
I tell you what: I have all the Dan Brown's. I have all the Steve Berry's. I've read many, many books about The Knights Templar (my personal passion) and The Cathars. I've been to Rennes-le-Chateau I-don't-know-how-many-times. But I have NEVER read such a spectacular book with such an incredible explanation of The Last Supper. One has to believe it's true! I can't believe that Javier Sierra's explanation of the secret meanings behind DaVinci's work are simply part of his imagination! This is the first time I've written a review for amazon because it's the first time I've been moved to do so. I'll buy this book for my friends and I'll read it again and again. I cannot say enough. SUOL-U-BAF! FAB-U-LOUS!!
Book Review: Much More About Leonardo!! Good Stuff!! Summary: 4 Stars
Good read, good story line well told, moving quickly from plot to subplot to subplot without ever losing sight of or getting too far away from the overall theme. Lots and lots of good "stuff" (info perhaps) about Leonardo Da Vinci, his beliefs, his idosyncrasies, and his relationship with the church...not as "flashy" or as controversial as "The Da Vinci Code," but a very good read...The "secrets" that are, or could be within "The Last Supper" are most intriguing and interesting...Da Vinci and the Cathers, to some extent, might well be considered to be the first Protestants, believing as they did about man's access to God. (But I won't tell the "secret" and spoil the read). Good book. Highly recommended
Book Review: I'm getting full Summary: 4 Stars
I think the public has had enough food from this supper of Christ.
This probably will be the last book on the holy grail I'll read. Enough. There may be better books written than The Da Vinci Code, but come one, The Code is the pilgrim. You can't take its place.
This book by Sierra is good because it throws you in the middle of the whole fabrication of DaVinci's painting. We actually get to hear The Master talk. This book is what we needed. We needed to be thrown into the past, and not just in forms of flash backs; we needed an entire novel. Good job, Mr. Sierra.
