The recipes call for fairly common and inexpensive ingredients, so they're easy to keep on-hand or pick up at any grocery store. Food sections include appetizers & snacks, meat & poultry sections, sandwiches, soups & chilies, side dishes, and desserts. The book includes a number of vegetarian dishes, and many recipes are easy to convert into vegetarian dishes or modify to your likings. (I modified the "Three-Bean Turkey Chili" by eliminating the turkey and substituting a can of corn for garbanzo beans, and it was absolutely amazing!) What's great is that these low-maintenance meals can be thrown together in minutes and forgotten about until mealtime.
CONTENTS: The book offers an introductory section on: history, how it works, how to choose one that best suits your needs, techniques, adapting other recipes for a slow cooker, maintenance, safety, and pantry suggestions. The book also offers a section on substitutions, which is a great resource to have for any type of cooking.
A must-buy for everyone, from first-time cooks to gourmet chefs!
