Book Reviews of The Sneetches and Other Stories

Book Review: Dr Suess is great on many levels!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for my 3 year old daughter because I remembered when they used to show us the Sneetches film in grade school to illustrate how ridiculous prejudice can be. She liked that story fine, but her favorite is What was I Scared of? because the pants with nobody inside spooks her a little and facinates her. You can't go wrong with a book from Dr Suess!

Book Review: You CAN teach a Sneetch...
Summary: 5 Stars

... and these stories can help you teach your kids!

This book has four good, shorter tales:

The Sneetches - Fashion and fads are temporary
The Zax - How pride can keep you from success
Too Many Daves - (laugh together at this Seussy nonsense)
What Was I Scared Of? - sometimes, the unknown is afraid of YOU

Book Review: The best Dr. Seuss
Summary: 5 Stars

Now that my years of reading bedtime stories are over, this book stands out as the one my kids and I enjoyed the most. The rhymes are bouncy, memorable and rhythmic, and the stories manage to impart life lessons without sounding preachy. My kids especially liked the last story about the pale green pants, fear of the unknown being an issue around here.

Book Review: A Treasure!
Summary: 5 Stars

These creative stories teach lessons in unexpected ways. The Sneetches learn to accept their differences, while another story (about green pants with nobody inside them) teaches that fear is mostly a reaction to the unknown, and many things that we fear are harmless. This is Dr. Seuss at his best- funny, far-out, and wise.

Book Review: The Best Dr. Seuss book EVER
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books. It's one some grown-ups should read. I love reading it to my four-year-old. It is composed of several short stories, each with a pretty good moral. What I love about Dr. Suess is his ability to bring across a message without being patronizing (kids can sense it!).
