Book Reviews of The Wednesday LettersBook Review: The Wednesday Letters--Great Romantic Idea, Regretable Execution Summary: 1 Stars
I LOVED the romantic idea that forms the basis of this book--what romantic wouldn't? But I was grossly disappointed in the execution of the story when it became apparent about a quarter of the way in that this author wanted to proselytize. The thread of the story seemed to get very mucked up and was poorly executed which was not aided in any way by the preachy tone and sappy ending. Blech! I should have bought a coffee instead.
Book Review: So disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
This book has such a great premise for a book but the reader is so disappointed with the first letter read from the dad to his wife. The Christian references in the book were simply placed throughout the story without any regard to the story. Also, one of the main characters writes a letter at the end of the story that he would never write based on his character throughout the entire book. A real disappointing story!
Book Review: Cute concept, weak writing Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this book after listening to an interview with the author. I thought it sounded like a cute concept...who wouldn't want to receive hand-written letters from his or her loved one on a weekly basis? But the story was a huge disappointed. The writing was so weak that it was almost too painful to read. If you want an easy read, then great, but I have no idea how this became a New York Times bestseller.
Book Review: This looks very interesting! Summary: 4 Stars
Although I received this selection from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, I haven't read it through yet. It was recommended to me by a very good friend and member of our Red Hat PIPS Chapter Reading Group, of which I am co-hostess. Wednesday's letters will be our January selection and we are all looking forward to reading it. I've given it a cursory glance and can see that it's my type of book. Happy reading!
Book Review: Fabulous! Summary: 5 Stars
This book was a wonderful story of true love, forgiveness and redemption. It was funny in parts, sad in other parts --- just an amazing story! A friend gave it to me to read and I loved it, so had to get my own copy. I then recommended it to our book club and they all loved it as well. We had a very good discussion about the story and the characters. It is one you will read over and over again.
