I decided to revise my review to start of by stating that this in NOT a "cure" provided to you by Kevin Trudeau. Regardless of what you think about Kevin and his past, this book is based on scientific fact and study and has experienced success in treating obesity for well over 50 years. So before you go writing some nasty, ill-informed review get your facts straight.
I expected the negative response given by the spotlight reviewers in part because that is what allot of them do but also given the author and his past. My questions for those whose choose negativity are 1) Have you actually read the book or just decided to trash Kevin because of what you've read? If these negative reviewers had in fact read the book then they would have realized that this is a treatment created by a doctor and is based on scientific fact with documented success. 2) Have you ever been overweight? These suppossive "fitness gurus" (thanks for never returning my email Tom V.) have more than likely never experienced being overweight or what it's like to have uncontrollable urges/cravings for food. Unless you've been there you can not preach to me. If I hear one more person tell another overweight person to "just don't eat" I will seriously flip out. It is that "just don't eat" mentality that has destroyed my metabolism. In my opinion, this is a much "safer" alternative than gastic bypass surgery or not doing anything at all, both of which could result in fatality.
It's custom to be skeptical about any "cure" listed on the market today. I'd be lying if I said that I was not a bit skeptical myself or concerned with the word "cure" in any title. Is there really a cure for anything? There is, there's just no money in it.
I'm a 34 year old father of two, 6 feet one and a half inches tall and I weigh approximately 295 lbs. I got to the gym 5 days a week. 3 days are spent weight training and two are spent doing cardio. I run every morning with my dog and I watch what I eat. At my peak I weight in excess of 340 lbs and could't walk the stairs in my house with becoming out of breath. I have practiced the above mentioned regimen for over a year now and yet I am not able to remove certian sections of fat from my body. As a result of my exercise and weight-loss I now have a "odd" looking body when I look at myself in the mirror which in turn causes me to question my efforts.
So here we are with Kevin's new book "The Weight Loss Cure". I purchaed the book a week ago and read it in one night. I was estatic over what I read. I learned of the 3 different types of fat, Structural (protects organs and joints), Normal (spread throughout the body for engery use) and Abnormal (the "problem" areas for people). I also learned some people (such as myself) and typically the obease (30lbs overweight) have very slow metabolisms and that no matter how much dieting, exercising or calorie counting is done the body simply wont release the fat unless 1, you are starving (90+ days of not eating) or 2, you're pregnant (to sustain the other person).
This was HUGE for me. It not only explained my current circumstances but also made me aware of something that I have never heard of or tried. When I asked my doctor about the treatment his response was immediately negative followed by an "I don't know much about it".
Now some of you have complained that the book does not state where to get "the treatment". This was probably left out on purpose to avoid another whole Natural Cures fiasco. So, dissappointed but not to be left denied my "cure" I decided to Google. What I found is a company GHI Medical ([..]
I should have my prescription by the begining of the week so that I can start my weight loss program. I will be documenting my experience every step of the way and posting the video footage of it online at YouTube for every one to witness. If I'm successful as every expierence with gHC I've read then this should silence some of the critics of this book. I HAVE tried everything else short of gastric-bypass surgery and I'm excited to get started.
So as my subject for this reads, "Are you paying attention?"
