Book Reviews of Things that SuckBook Review: sucks so good Summary: 5 Stars
i dont usually like books like this. but thats probably because most of them are trying to tell me what to be happy about forgetting one simple fact: misery makes happy. from the second i saw this book - similar in size, shape and color to maos little red book (another list of things that suck) - i had to have it and can only hope it has the same far reaching and history changing implications as maos. but honestly, the book is clever without being cloying, inventive without being crass, intimate without being creepy and sucks without sucking (plus a free cartoon. go figure.) it makes for a perfect birthday gift because, to paraphrase gore vidal, it is not enough to be happy. others must be unhappy.
Book Review: Laugh Out Loud Funny Summary: 5 Stars
This book literally made me laugh out loud, which was a bit uncomfortable as I was attempting to read it in the midst of a meeting. Warning: Do not read this in the misdst of a meeting. You will laugh out loud, and then you will be filled with an unrelenting need to grab the person next to you and point to the line that made you laugh, see if they laugh as hard as you did, and when they do, force them to listen to you read every line you thought was funny. Again, not conducive to a meaningful meeting.
Book Review: Things that Suck: doesn't Summary: 5 Stars
I picked a copy of this book because of the cool cover and found myself grinning, then laughing out loud. Everything in it is spot on in their suckiness and at least two thing in it that sucked had happened to me that very day!!!!
I left the book out during a dinner party recently, and guest after guest picked it up and had the same reaction I did. This book is funny and I really enjoyed it.
p.s. Enjoy the flip book cartoon inside. I'm going to wear the pages out playing with it.
Book Review: Who knew I'd like "things that suck" so much? Summary: 5 Stars
A friend of mine had a copy of this - and as soon as I picked it up we immediately started a discussion of what else should be in the book...a long and very entertaining list of things in your life that suck. Hilarious!
I believe the author also has a website where you can add your own things that suck to the collection - a great idea. This is the kind of list that is truly endless - and also a lot of fun. Pick one up and put it on your desk.
Book Review: Great gift for the misanthrope in your life Summary: 5 Stars
... and I am sure there are many of them. They'll find many familiar "things that suck" in here, as well as things they never thought of. Kaplan writes in a breezy, informal style that seeks to amuse, but beware: the book periodically stops short for some serious consideration of weightier issues. There is food for thought here for the discerning reader, and social activist, perhaps.
