Book Reviews of Too Big for Diapers (Sesame Street) (Sesame Steps)

Book Review: Great introduction for young ones!
Summary: 5 Stars

Our now 18 month old son has had this for a few months now, and it has been a favorite of his. He started asking for Ernie every night before bed. We aren't really using it for potty training- we might start trying that in a few months- but it's a great introduction for little ones. It is very short and simple, and he loves the pictures (I think because they're photos and not illustrated?). I figure it can't hurt to get him familiar with the idea of using the potty, and it's a super quick read. Even if it's not effective for training, it is good for entertainment, and the pictures are great!

We also have another Sesame Steet potty book "Potty Time!", and he loves that too. It's a little longer than this one, and they get to flush at the end!

Book Review: Encouraging For Little Ones
Summary: 4 Stars

"Too Big For Diapers" came in really handy when my wife and I were in the middle of potty-training our daughter a couple of years ago. Reading the little book helped, but it was the pictures of little Ernie that captivated my daughter. Although the book didn't necessarily have that big of an impact on the actual training of my daughter, it made going to the bathroom a little bit easier for my daughter to do since she knew she'd get to look at the book when she did good on the potty.

Recommended for anyone with a child going through or about to go through the ups and downs of potty training. If for no other reason, buy it so that your child can have something to look at while they are learning the wipes...er, ropes of using the potty.

Book Review: A perfect introduction!
Summary: 5 Stars

My son was showing some of the signs that he might be ready for his own potty, so I bought this book to introduce the basics. I was really impressed. It explains how babies wear diapers, but when they grow up, they use a potty. It also illustrates important points like not using too much toilet paper and washing your hands afterwards. It's a simple story, so it doesn't go into a lot of detail. There's no discussion of "poo-poo" or "pee-pee." It just uses the generic term "having to go." But I don't think that's a bad thing. This book isn't meant to be the only training tool you use. I think it's a great introduction to potty training. And my son can't get enough of it. He wants to read it over and over. You'll have it memorized within a week.

Book Review: Good Book
Summary: 5 Stars

My 2 year old daughter and my 5 year old son love this book! I bought this book for my daughter in effort to provide interest and information to her about not wearing diapers and about going potty like a big girl. The hard book consists of ten pages, has nice text and pictures, and it gets the point across to a young child about the transition from diapers to potty chairs/toilets. We enjoy the hard pages, so that she can take it where ever she wants, we usually read it to her before bed and she likes to sleep with it. The book has helped us to help her through the transition and it has made the potty training much easier! I would definately buy this again or recommend it to anyone needing the extra help in potty training!!!!

Book Review: Less than expected
Summary: 3 Stars

Can't complaint about the graphic design of this book, it's colorful and really attractive. But in terms of actual content I was a little disappointed.
Considering that most parents will think about getting a book like this only if they feel that their toddler is too big for diapers and needs some extra help to become fully potty trained, in other words, is older than 2 and a half years old, the story line of this book is extremely plain and simple, maybe suitable for babies that are only 2 years old or even a little younger.
My 30 months old boy has shown virtually no interest in this book, and I feel he gets bored with it since he is already used to other stories, more complex than this one.
