Book Reviews of Too Fat to Fish

Book Review: Surprisingly Touching and Blatantly Honest.
Summary: 4 Stars

Artie Lange gives us insight to "what made the man" in Too Fat To Fish. Even if you are not an Artie fan, you're heartless if you do not find his story compelling and his unwavering love for his family genuine.

I know that some readers that are Howard Stern Show fans may say that Artie has told many of these stories on the air, but there is much more revealed within these pages than what has come across in sound bytes on Sirius Radio. Artie Lange gives us his heart in Too Fat To Fish and Howard is not there to edit him. You get the whole story.... the laughs and the ugliness of Artie's personal trials and struggle with substance abuse.

Pick this one up, you wont be sorry.

Book Review: So Funny
Summary: 4 Stars

This is one of the funniest books i've ever read. I bought it for my father (who is not a fan of Artie Lange, or books) because I heard it is a great father/son story. We sat down and read a couple chapters and we were laughing non-stop. I spoke with my father just a couple days after I gave it to him and he's already finished it. This is amazing because my father has never finished a book, and he finished this one (300+ Pages) in just a few days.
After he finished it I borrowed it and read it inside of a week. It's funny, sad, and extremely human. It's inspired some amazing conversations between my father and I. Thank you Artie Lange and thank you Amazon.

Book Review: Funny, Raunchy, but also Serious
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book because I have always thought Artie Lange was funny as hell. That Baby Gorilla scene is burned into my PFC. While I had been a Stern fan for ages, I have grown tired of him over the last few years- I bought this book soley because of Lange (and the back cover- funny as crap).

What I did not expect was how serious and sincere this book can be at times. When he talks about his dad, losing him, etc.. it is very difficult to read. This is someones life- a decent guys life- and it could have been any of ours. As a father of young kids, I am actually going to take better care of my personal well being as a result of reading this book.

Book Review: A touching and funny read
Summary: 5 Stars

Artie becomes more human and less of a character on The Howard Stern show with this book. His early memories of his childhood are touching and it's easy to connect with the pain he's running from throughout the rest of his story.

Artie is a great storyteller and this book is an easy read. I laughed out loud a lot, and found myself marvelling that this guy is still alive given all he's been through.

With lots of entertaining Hollywood stories, this book is a great gift for any Howard Stern Show fan, anyone struggling with an addiction, anyone who enjoys a good rags to riches story, or just anyone who likes a good book in general.

Book Review: Too Weak For Life... Wahhh
Summary: 2 Stars

Wahhh, I can't deal with success. I listen to Stern about 3-4 hours a day and about 60% of the time I love Artie's jabs and one liners. But when it comes to his story telling, I believe JD is more articulate. I bought this book because I am a Stern fan and wanted to know about Artie. As previously stated in other reviews, most of these stories have been told on the show. After listening to the show and reading this book, one thing is clear, Artie loves to pity himself and is always looking for some sort of sympathy from others. If you listen to the show, you do not need to purchase this book. If you want a few hundred pages of wahhhh.. then buy it.
