Book Reviews of Tribute

Book Review: She's lost it...
Summary: 1 Stars

I've always been first in line to buy whatever Nora writes. But I've stopped buying the JD Robb books because they are all the same and there is absolutely no character development. I'll definitely never waste the money for a Hardcover now.

Tribute is beyond boring. Is it even ethical to write a review of a book that I just absolutely could not finish? Although I guess that says it all. These were the most uninteresting characters. After 199 pages (yep, I got that far, but it took 2 weeks) I just seriously did not care a whit what happpened to any of them. In addition to boring characters, this book had a weak storyline; and let's face it-easily discernible. It read so much like just about everything else she's ever written, complete with talking to the ghost of a dead relative. Keep your money, people.

Book Review: Not her best or even close to mediocore.
Summary: 2 Stars

I was really excited to start this book because the blurb made it sound very promising. In fact, I read 120 pages on my first night, but not because it was interesting. I read 120 pages hoping it would get better, but it actually only got worse. Ford and Cilla's relationship seemed to move too fast and too slow at the same time. The dream sequences between Cilla and her grandmother were odd, almost as if Roberts decided to throw them in there just for the hell of it. I say they are odd because Cilla never met her grandmother, who died long before Cilla was born, and the dream sequences were rather pointless and unnecessary to the main plot. Overall, too much description about flipping houses. I feel like I can go out for my contractor's license now that I've read this book...

Book Review: A Great Summer Read
Summary: 5 Stars

Ms. Roberts has another hit on her hands with Tribute
I really liked both main characters Ford and Cilla and all the supporting characters. I really liked how she developed Cilla's character throughout the novel from some one who is very insecure about herself and the people who are closest to her and I especially liked the relationship development between Cilla and her father. I liked how Ford wore down Cilla and how his easy going manner and his realness helped to I guess the best word is heal Cilla. And I would never have guessed who the tormentor was. I think the only thing I might have changed was to maybe have Janet visit Cilla in one of her "dream scenes" after the case was closed I would have liked to know if Janet knew what happened.
Any way great read

Book Review: Tribute, by Nora Roberts
Summary: 4 Stars

Okay so I really enjoyed Tribute. It is not one of Nora's best books but it was still really good. A lot of people have said to find the remodeling info a little overdone but I found that when she would describe a specific rehab aspect in detail, it was because it was important. So she didn't put those details in to be tedious but to move the plot along. I loved Cilla's character actually. Nora's female leads usually are usually tough in attitude or soft. Cilla was actually a combination of both so she was more human. I really liked this booked because every single character was explained. There was a depth to everyone and it was a different track for Nora, going into the dark side of Hollywood stardom. I found it an incredible story and I couldn't put it down. Enjoy! :)

Book Review: What Happened to NR?
Summary: 2 Stars

I have been reading this book for almost 2 weeks (more than twice the time it usually takes me to read one of NR's books), and I still cannot get through it. I usually love her books, but this one is nowhere near as good as it could be. There is a lot of potential in this story, but it is being underutilized. The characters are likable, but the plot is slow a molasses. Honestly, the best part so far has been realizing that one of the characters is named Tom Morrow (hahaha)...which is when I keep telling myself I will finish this book, even though it hasn't happened yet.

If you are a die hard NR fan and absolutely must read this book, either borrow it from the library or wait until it comes out in paperback. It isn't worth the money spent on it.
