Book Reviews of TributeBook Review: Tribute by Nora Roberts Summary: 5 Stars
I was introduced to Nora Roberts Novels about 10 years ago while in the Hospital and have been hooked ever since. Tribute is set in the western section of Vitginia not very far from where I grew up and I could hardly put the book down after starting it. Ms. Roberts descriptions of the lay of the land, fona & flora paints a very clear picture of the area and takes me back to those roots. Her Characters are very beliveable and their relationships exceptional. The mistery of "who-done-it" stays well hidden untill very late in the book and helps with the intrigue of Cilla's haunted life. Many scenes depicted in the book brought a tear to my eyes and memories of times gone by. A great read.
Book Review: Hey! It is classic Nora Roberts Summary: 5 Stars
Since Nora Roberts has become such a prolific writer (don't know how she does it!), I am glad that she has apparently divided her efforts into different classes of books, ie: Robb-futuristic mysteries; NR-romance with a twist of mystery or fantasy and last but not least, the classic NR romance of which Tribute is one. You have a little bit of everything with this one, action, romance, mystery and a few surprises in the end. But as far as I am concerned there is no one better than NR when it comes to filling out her characters from their weaknesses to their strengths and how they always manage to grow with each page. If you like Nora Roberts, you will love this book.
Book Review: I found it oddly lacking Summary: 2 Stars
I have been a big Nora Roberts fan since the 80's, but recently I've found myself bored by her books (the exceptions being the JD Robb series). I don't know if I can put my finger on why I didn't like this book, but it took me a month to read it which is highly unusual for me. In fact, I had to force myself to finish which I've never done with one of NR's books. I couldn't have cared less about either of the main characters. I prefer characters who aren't so one-note and both Cilla and Ford came across as very one-note to me. I actually liked Cilla's ex-husband better than anyone else in the story...maybe Nora should have written about him instead.
Book Review: Good read Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not a big Nora Roberts fan. I find her books too formulaic and romances are not my favorite genre. But I do read romances for a change form the thrillers I like and I find Nora Roberts is usually a safe bet for a good read. And she sometimes adds a touch of fantasy and the paranormal to her books so that's a plus for me.
Tribute has a good story about a Hollywood star, her family, mystery about her death and the granddaughter who refurbishes her home in Virginia. The characters in the book are great and the romance hot and very current, not cutesy sweet. Best of all book had a lot of humor.
Book Review: Tribute Summary: 4 Stars
As usual I am always looking for something to read in between new 'In Death' books and look to Nora Roberts first of course. I was very pleased with 'Tribute'. It kept my interest almost from the very beginning. I will put a book down if they don't get me in the first chapter, sometimes sooner. That didn't happen with this book. The characters were fun and interesting and as the plot opened up I found myself trying to figure out 'who dunnit'. Reminded me a little of Mary Higgins Clark plots, which I also enjoy. I finished it in about 3 nights of reading in bed. I recommend it highly.
