Book Reviews of True Detectives: A Novel

Book Review: Major Disappointment!
Summary: 1 Stars

I normally love Jonathan Kellerman's books but this one is a major disappontment! He should go back to the Alex Delaware story line and skip the brothers. Too much guessing on their part and talk of who was wearing what. Also, very anti-Christian in his hatred of Mel Gibson as the thinly disguised villain. I'm just glad I took this book out of the library and didn't buy it. As a matter of fact, I don't think I'll ever buy another Jonathan Kellerman book.

Book Review: The reader must detect
Summary: 2 Stars

This is so unlike the previous Jonathan Kellerman books I have read. In fact, I didn't even finish the book. It was just too boring and had too many characters that were hard to sort out. Finally, I just skipped over the last 1/3 of the book and went right to the end. Wow! Case solved. Did Jonathan really write this? Bring back Dr. Delaware and Milo. Get rid of the twins. Their birth story is too fanciful even for fiction.

Book Review: who's doing his writing these days?
Summary: 1 Stars

The Jonathan Kellerman writing style has changed so much, I suspect someone else ghost wrote this book. I can barely wade through the metaphors and slang to figure out what he's saying. It's really awful. Can't imagine whoever wrote this stuff thinks it's clever, but I bet they do. J Kellerman just dropped off my favorite authors list and probably off my future purchases list. And, by the way, the story just goes nowhere.

Book Review: Not one of Kellerman's best
Summary: 2 Stars

I share the view of other reviewers that this tale had far too many characters and many needless distractions. I ended it confused and disappointed. This is not even close to the standard one expects from him. Whoever ghost wrote this needs considerably more training and oversight. I hesitate to read another of his novels without first having a look at the initial reviews from others.

Book Review: Who wrote this?
Summary: 1 Stars

True Detectives had none of the subtlety, gentleness and insight I associate with a Jonathan Kellerman novel. The dialogue was extraordinarily awkward and the plot was pointless. The heavy PC overtones really were a distraction. The portrayal of Mel Gibson and his family was so ham-fisted that I cannot believe an editor let him get away with it.
