Book Reviews of Undead and Unwelcome (Queen Betsy, Book 8)

Book Review: Better than the last but still not quite there...
Summary: 3 Stars

I loved that this one brought back the funny... but for a hardback the lack of heft left my pocket book screaming that I should have waited for paperback and invested the $ I spent on a tank of gas instead. I read this in no time...only because there wasn't much to read at all. Am glad the werewolves are now on Betsy's side, Glad Tina is okay, and seeing things through Mark's Point of View was a laugh but too much was dedicated to that... I understand that the author has had a lot going on in her own world but to not deliver to her core audience leaves me worried for the next round.

Book Review: Dead Storyline
Summary: 1 Stars

I'm done. I will probably not buy another book in this series. They have lost all of the fun loven' unique flavor that they once had. Betsy is back and she is her normal self. Her husband, brother, sister, roommates and friends are all around as well. What is missing in this book? The plot! It picks up right where the last one left off and basically covers a week in the life of Betsy. I could care less that the devil is pushing her sister to be bad. The characters aren't evolving and the story line is very very flat. I would stop reading the series before this book!

Book Review: In decline
Summary: 1 Stars

How I loved Undead and Unwed - I thought it was original and witty. Undead and Unemployed was also good, but the books have gone steadily downhill since them. I understand how the tone of the series is light on plot and generally fluffy, but with every instalment Betsy just gets more and more irritating, and the books get weaker. This one didn't buck the trend. Please, MJD, if you're going to keep this series going, for pity's sake, improve the quality.

Book Review: Ugh
Summary: 1 Stars

I cant believe I wasted 20 dollars on this book. I was finished in 2 hours and it the process I wanted to scream. Betsy used to be a lovable heroine but now she is just a moron. She never pays attention to anything and her relationship with sinclair is all about sex. This was cute the first 5 books but now there needs to be some substance. MJD needs to either step it up or put an end to this series so her loyal fans will stop wasting their money.

I know most people didn't like the new direction MJD is taking with the Queen Betsy series, but I really like this one. Told from both Betsy and Marc's point of view, the story was a nice departure from the typical plan. It was nice to hear a new voice in this series and I hope to hear more from the other characters. I need to go get out Derik's Bane and read that one to find out more about the Windham Werewolves.
