Book Review: More than you will ever want to know about wood

Wow, this guy is really a nut about wood. The book is very technical going into equations and cell biology BUT if you can grind through it, the book is incredibly insightful and well thought out. A lot of the material is a must read for ANY woodworker and will you will be rewarded with greater satisfaction with your projects as a result. I have built furniture that I labored over for hours for perfect joinery only to have it look like a grade school art project after a cold dry winter. I understood wood moved but, I had no clue to how much, exactly why, in what direction or most importantly that with some simple math I could have calculated and correct for the movement to have my projects look perfect! Also well covered are subjects such as warping/cupping/bowing(etc), the role of film finish, wood stabilizers, adhesives and joinery, lumber grading, strength, etc.
Not a light read but if you grind out the first chapter or so you will see why he labors through the details to set you up to understand the stuff you really want to know like wood movement.
I can see now why it's on every woodworkers top 10 must own woodworking books!
