Book Review: Not terrible, but not good

I wonder what it is that can make an author completely veer off the path of their infamous trademark of building characters with unbelievable chemistry and fast paced action. Up close and dangerous was okay, but it was not what signature Linda Howard used to be about.
Bailey Wingate is a seemingly wealthy widow to a very old man, labelling her a gold digger. What people, and especially Cam Justice, the co-owner of their private jet firm, doesn't realize is that the setup was a business deal that makes a level hearded Bailey the ward of two very spoiled children. Bailey is going on vacataion and charters a jet, but at the last minute, Cam who normally avoids Bailey, is scheduled to fly. Midflight, their plane crashes, and the remaining story, which is all of it, becomes a MacGuyverish survival. As the two depend on one another for their survival, they get to know one another and develop an unbreakable bond, ultimately falling for one another, meanwhile trying to solve how their plane went down in the first place. It's very clear that it was no accident and if they make it back, it's unsure if their lives are still in danger.
This story had a solid foundation and the writing was actually still good, just boring. It would have been better, if the survival in the mountains was shorter and they spent more time on the mystery of who was trying to kill them. Unfortunately, they make it out of the wilderness with only a few pages left and Cam knows who the attempted murderer is almost immediately leaving a very anticlimactic feeling. Additionally, the sex factor is completely lacking, which is so uncharacteristic of Howard. Oh well, one can only hope she finds her mojo soon.
