Book Reviews of Vegan Lunch Box

Book Review: Yummy (and nutritious) lunches made easy!
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't say enough good things about this cookbook. I had pre-ordered it and have already tried a few recipes from it. The croissants are really amazing! I have also tried some of the recipes in the book before, since I am a loyal reader of her blog. Even if you have tried all of the blog recipes, you will find lots of new ones in here!

I read it from cover to cover and have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about the way it was laid out--basically, easy/quick meals to more complicated. But I can see how this would be really helpful during busy mornings or nights when you have more time to prepare. Also, I loved that she provides full menus so, while you can obviously mix and match, the tried and true combos are right in front of you!

Book Review: Vegan or Not, These Recipes are Sure to Please
Summary: 5 Stars

I know what some of you may be thinking, "A vegan cookbook?! Don't they just eat seeds, grass, and rubbery tofu cheese?"

NO WAY!!

While I totally appreciate the choice in a vegan lifestyle, I'm not vegan. This food is amazing! Not only does it taste good and look good, my kids are eating it!

This woman has really done her research on child friendly food. The ideas are great and the large print is gentle on my nearsighted eyes.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone but especially for children or others with allergies or meat aversion. Which reminds me, it has been cleverly indexed with allergens in mind.

It's a great addition to my cookbook collection.

Book Review: such a great simple book
Summary: 5 Stars

This book has a lot of great kid friendly and FAMILY friendly meals in it. I loved that it wasn't your typical vegan/vegetarian cookbook that had a lot of substitutes for meat in it, but instead shows you simple pairings of food to make a meal. We have not had a recipe in here yet that is not well loved.
The format was good. I own both books and I much prefer the first edition (yellow) over the second purple version. The first edition is much better in terms of organization. I find the second edition confusing to follow and highly dislike how the meal plans do not have the recipes immediately with it.

Book Review: YUMMY!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

The daily photographs of Schmoo's lunches made my mouth water for months, so I pre-ordered this book as soon as it became available. It is even better than I expected. Jennifer's empanada recipe produced better empanadas than my mother's (I grew up in Puerto Rico; we're serious about empanadas) and tonight I served the crown jewel recipe from the book, Vegan Wellington. My dinner party guests (some vegan some not) were blown away. I am so thankful to Jennifer and her VLB project, because it was the best thing that ever happened to my cooking. The recipes are easy, wholesome, and sure-to-be crowd pleasers.

Book Review: The best vegan cookbook I own
Summary: 5 Stars

I have spent a lot of money on vegan cookbooks and never really had much success until now. I haven't been able to put any of these wonderful creations in the lunches I pack each day (5 lunches) because we eat them all the day before. I've tried six things and all have been a huge success. I can't wait to try more. I made a batch of the chocolate chip cookies for me daughter to share at school and she was beseiged with requests for the recipe, even when she told the kids they had tofu in them. Thank you Jennifer for doing all the work for me - I don't have to experiment anymore - you've already done that.
