Book Review: Disturbingly Sick

In this sick tale, Myra and her sisterhood reap vengance on the Chinese man (John Chai) who killed Myra's daughter, Barbara. Several members of the sisterhood kidnap the man from China and bring him to Myra's house where he is kept in a cell. Caning is the decided punishment and when the women release Chai to begin the torture he uses martial arts to try and escape. Several of the sisterhood end up hurt, including Myra's husband, Charles. After this scene Myra remarks, "We should break his legs, gouge his eyes out, pull out his tongue and ... his toenails and fingernails, too. He could have killed Charles and seriously hurt you girls. What kind of a person is that man?" My question is, what kind of women are Myra and those in the sisterhood? That they would cane a man, removing most of the top layer of skin leaving him in a situation where he could die from infection and be horrifically scarred for the rest of his life! It's a pretty sick tale and certainly not a psychologically healthy way to deal with anger.
I wonder what has happened in the author's life that would inspire such a gruesome tale.
