Book Reviews of Vice Cream: Gourmet Vegan Desserts

Book Review: Gourmet Desserts - Gourmet Prices
Summary: 3 Stars

As a vegan, I love to find dessert recipes that I can eat. Vice Cream has over 70 yummy desserts that I can indulge in. Now, the recipes may sound great and I prefer to have all natural food when I can but most of the recipes will end up costing a small fortune to make. Not only that but a lot of the ingredients cannot be found in your local grocery store. It's a handy book to have when I feel like treating myself but these aren't recipes I'd make all the time...unless I inherited a lot of money.

Book Review: Delicious! Easy! Healthy!
Summary: 5 Stars

As vegan/raw foodists we have given up ice cream. Soy-based products purchased in the store are an acceptable substitute, or at least they were until we bought this book. Have tried the peanut butter - yummy, but clearly the rest will be delicious as well. Never realized what you could make a creamy frozen treat out of until I saw this book. Vegans and non-vegans alike will love these recipes.

Book Review: Don't Think I'll Miss Ice Cream
Summary: 5 Stars

This book has really helped me - a devout ice cream eater, now born-again vegan. I have made four recipes in two weeks and this book gives me hope that milk, cream, butter, eggs, and sugar will never enter my diet again. Although it is hard for me to find honey dates (used in many of the recipes), the medjool dates has been a great substitute. Thank you Mr. Jeff Rogers.

Book Review: Great Item If You're Made of Gold!
Summary: 1 Stars

This is a great item if you're wealthy. Where I live, Organic Cashews are $9.99/lb., Vanilla Beans are $9.00/2 beans, and Organic Maple Syrup is $6/8oz. By my limited math abilities, assuming 1/2 lb. Cashews, I'm paying $20 for a quart of Vanilla Ice Cream. It's really ... I mean REALLY got to be good for $20/quart! (God forbid you should mess up a batch!)

Book Review: Ooooh my....
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best ice cream I have ever had, bar none. The cashew milk makes for such a rich, creamy base that every recipe has been delicious. Plus, the recipes are straightforward enough to encourage a little experimentation. I will never buy Soy Delicious or Ben & Jerry's again!!!
