Book Review: Wine Grapes made simple.

American of all ages are finally going bonkers for wine and these index cards are a great tool to understanding the often confusing world of wine. The wine world is so vast and there is so much information out there about wine. Until recently many of the most published wine writers have been from England or France where their style of writing has been too proper, complicated, and old for the American reader. These cards keep it simple. There are pictures of the grape varietal on one side of the card and concise information about the grape varietal on the other side of the card, with flavor profile descriptions, dna history, and food pairings. Also, each card is glossed to prevent fading. When you feel that you are in a rut, sticking to the same ol' grape varietal you know you like, always drinking chardonnay or always drinking pinot noir; after reading these cards you will be excited to look for other varietals you were previously weary about, plus you will have confidence at your local intimidating wine shop. In short, these cards can introduce you into new and exciting varietals while impressing your friends with your enthusiasm and knowledge along the way. If you are wine lover and you want to find out more basic information about wine I also recommend Oz Clarke's Grapes and Wine, Dara Grumdahl's Drink This : wine made simple, Kevin Zraly's Windows on the World, and anything from Andrea Immer Robinson. Check to see if these books are available at your local library first, then if you love them buy them on Amazon.
