Book Review: 4.5 stars. Great follow up to the first book!!

In Slaves to Sensation we were introduced to the world of the Psy-changelings. The Psy were a race that had emotions conditioned out of them as children through the Silence Protocol, while the changelings are shapeshifters that thrive on emotions and touch.
Faith Nightstar is a cardinal F-Psy, a foreseer. Living in a compound, she predicts business trends for her those who can afford her and makes millions for the Nightstar PsyClan, but when visions of darkness and murder threatens her already tenuous sanity, she sets out to discover how to forestall her insanity.
Vaughn is a jaguar changeling in the leopard DarkRiver pack. He was fascinated by the compound he found at the edge of DarkRiver territory, and even more so by the Psy that climbed over the fence and came into their territory. Vaughn is an alpha male to the core, his animal much too close to the surface due to past events. While a part of him doesn't trust any Psy, he couldn't help but feel attracted to the one he found in the compound.
At first I didn't really like Faith, but she grew on me somewhat. She just seems so fragile and cowardly at first, her inability to accept even the slightest touch and her fainting spells, but kudos to Ms. Singh in being able to get across to readers just how fragile Faith is. Unlike Sascha in Slaves to Sensation, Faith is a true Psy who've never felt feelings before and have to truly break her Conditioning. It's a hard process, but Vaughn is perfect for her in that he is willing to push her to the limit but knows when to stop. He believes in Faith's abilities to break her Conditioning. Sure enough, Faith find that she is stronger than she believed and became even stronger for it.
Additionally, there is even more revealed about the world of the Psy, and we can see that despite the Psy killers and the Council, not all Psy are bad and are puppets of the Council. There're politics and tensions within the Psy world that we get merely a glimpse of. Ms. Singh set a great pace for the book in intersecting these developments into Faith and Vaughn's story so that the plot flowed quite nicely.
Definitely worth the read. Give this series a chance and you won't be disappointed!

Nalini Singh had done it again!
Once again, I was not surprised of how well this story was written. Nalini is one of those gifted writers that knows, how to write a good story with a good amount of sensuality, intrigue and romance. So are you ready, set, go
Here goes a little hint of the story:
Faith is a Psy "F" that has the ability to have visions of the future. Vaughn is a sentinel of the Changelings that is in charge on guarding his territory from the cold and cruel Psys.
One day he finds faith walking on his territory and he has to make sure that this Psy doesn't causes any troubles, so he is going to keep a close eye on her. Really close....
I devoured the book pretty much in the same day that I received it. The anticipation of what was going to happen next was killing me. I couldn't put it down until it was over and then I was disappointed that I got nothing else to read. I had been waiting for this book for months and I have to say that it was worth the wait.
I couldn't ask for a sexier Hero, Sweet, Hot and Protective all at the same time. I love Vaughn since he was first introduced on "Slave to Sensation"
......and he is a Jaguar. Hmmm! What else could I ask for?
Faith, what a strong, independent woman! Love those kinds of heroines that know what they want and go for it.
I really enjoyed this book specially seeing how Vaughn and Faith grow to love each other. This is a very emotional sensual read, and if you decide to pick this book you won't be disappointed.
From my own experience I could tell you that series can become tedious some times. But this is not the case Nalini was able to enhance the Changelings/Psy world. This book stands on its own, but if you want more of this great Changelings/Psy world you should try "Slave to Sensation" (Lucas and Sasha story) which also made a few appearances on "Visions of Heat"
This is definitely one of those romance-paranormal novels that you want to keep on your shelf, to read again and again so start making a place for it.

Book Review: Made my Kindle smoke

So since the first book officially hooked me I dove into this one with no time to spare and if it's possible, I loved it even more. Vaughn is the perfect hero, just ever so slightly tortured past, but he doesn't let that get in the way of what he wants and what he wants is Faith Nightstar.
From the moment he see's her he's sunk, that she is not only a cold blooded emotionally closed off psy, but she's also lived most of her life in seclusion devoid of stimulation gives him the necessary understanding to take it slow regardless of how much his Jaguar wants to just pounce. And that slow seduction, one touch at a time is hot hot hot.
What endeared me the most to this couple was that while Vaughn is closer to his animal than the others in his pack (childhood stuff) he never tries to dominate Faith, he sees a strength in her she doesn't see in herself. He's persistant and pretty darn unwavering in his seduction of her, though he doesn't fall into the trap of thinking only he knows what's best for Faith.PERIOD
And Faith while drawn to the animal in him, trusts him with her heart, her mind and her life.
Vaughn's kindness and tenderness (tempered with enough controlled passion to make you blush) with Faith as he nudges her toward independence is achingly beautiful. And Faith's road to acceptance that she simply cannot live without Vaughn now that he's taught her to feel is interwoven with her growing fear of the consequences of their actions.
Two of things I've enjoyed about both the Psy-Changelings books so far is that there are no "big misunderstandings resulting in the big bad".
The characters talk to each other, they communicate, they earn each others trust and believe in each other unwaveringly.
Which is one of the hottest things going for this series.
And, the women are smart, they bring a lot to their relationship, and give as good as they get. I ADORE smart heroines.
If you haven't do read Slave to Sensation first though (and it's plenty o' delicious too)

Since the power of foresight tends to drive its inhabitants crazy, F-Psy have the highest rates of insanity of any other designation. To keep them tame and ensure the use of their powers for as long as possible, the F-Psy are often isolated and raised without touch or interaction with others. Faith is the classic example and when she sees her shields begin to break down, she knows that her mind can't be far behind. She decides to seek help from the only other Psy she knows who has managed to escape from the PsyNet, Sascha Duncan.
Vaughn D'Angelo is a sentinel in the DarkRiver leopard pack and right-hand man to pack Alpha Lucas Duncan. When Faith seeks his alpha's assistance, Vaughn is there to ensure that Lucas and his mate are protected. What he doesn't bank on is that he will be so attracted to the red-haired foreseer. Before he knows what he's doing, Vaughn has marked her and begun to break down all the lonely walls behind which Faith is trapped. The real question, however, is if they can survive together once Faith turns her back on the only life she's ever known.
Visions of Heat is the second in the Psy-Changeling series (after Slave to Sensation, which tells Lucas and Sascha's story). I have to say that I enjoyed the first book more, but I still like the direction this series is going. The changelings as a group are possessive, family-oriented, and willing to do anything for pack, which I enjoy. Their males are fiercely protective and sacrifice themselves constantly to ensure their mates are protected. The Psy, on the other hand, are an almost emotionless bunch, ruthless for their lack of feeling and without any hint of remorse. The two who have been main characters so far, Sascha and Faith, are both flawed in that they feel emotion and can find comfort in touch. That is what's taking some getting used to for me. Regardless, I'm still interested in this series and look forward to seeing what else Nalini Singh has in store.

As an F-Psy, she has the ability of foresight but has remained isolated from person-to-person contact. After all, the Psy know that every F-Psy is destined for clinical insanity and Faith is one of the top prognosticators of her generation. Naturally Faith is worried when she begins receiving visions of evil, including the murder of her own sister. However, everything Faith believes, all of the teachings that have been drummed into her, are about to be questioned when she meets sexy Changeling, Vaughn D'Angelo. Vaughn wants to show Faith just how powerful emotions and touch really are....
VISIONS OF HEAT is the phenomenal sequel to the equally phenomenal SLAVE TO SENSATION. VISIONS OF HEAT will best be appreciated after reading the first book as there are several ongoing threads that are expanded upon in this sequel. We learn more about the NetMind and the PsyNet in VISIONS OF HEAT and some fascinating possibilities are already in place for the next book.
Nalini Singh proves without a shadow of a doubt that she is an absolute master at world building with this gem! The various interactions between the Changelings and the Psy, coupled with the machinations of the Council, make for one intriguing storyline. The romance between Faith and Vaughn happens rather quickly and it should be noted that VISIONS OF HEAT will appeal more to readers looking for a strong plot than those seeking solely to find a romance with a paranormal twist. Nalini Singh takes her plotline very seriously as she has developed a very complex but thoroughly satisfying storyline that has quickly vaulted her to the top ranks of writers in the genre. Don't miss out on this series as it is a definite keeper!
