Book Review: Beautiful and Intimate Sharing of great joy and sorrow

I bought this book on the recommendation of my family who read it when my great-nephew was diagnosed during the pregnancy with HLHS. I got the book just before the beautiful little guy was born and read about half of it. I finished it after he was already gone. I couldn't help but read some of the low star reviews to see why people didn't like it before I purchased it. Anyone who graded it low because they didn't agree with this family's choices or their understanding of the medical facts and statistics that were presented to them while having to make such a gut-wrenching decision really did not understand this book at all. It is a beautiful memoir of their experience that reaches out and shares the beauty and pain of life and death. It was incredibly helpful in understanding what someone who goes through something like this might be feeling and erases the awkwardness of trying to understand grief and death. I found great comfort and I know my family members who read it did too. This is real stuff, in real words, by a real person, not some psycho-babble that is hard to digest. I would like to say Thank You to the author for sharing Gabriel's short life with all of us.
