Book Reviews of Weight Loss Surgery For DummiesBook Review: Another Great Book for Dummies Summary: 5 Stars
Written in the easy-to-read style of the classic "Dummies" series books, this is a great reference book if you are considering bariatric surgery. It is full of information (things you didn't even know you HAD to know!) on what to expect before, during and after surgery --how to plan ahead, what you might experience, etc. As the author says: Take the book to the hospital with you and keep it by your bedside. Don't be a dummie; buy the book.
Book Review: Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies is a MUST-HAVE! Summary: 5 Stars
I've read it cover to cover. I've re-read it cover to cover. It will
be the very first item put in my suitcase for use during my hospital
stay. Roux-en-Y WLS is a few short weeks away and I truly can't wait!
As a supplement to the information provided by my surgeon and his
team, this book addresses all the procedures, questions, and concerns
from pre-op, to post-op, and for the rest of our life long journey.
Book Review: Great Reference Book Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this book prior to my July 2009 GBS surgery. It is the best book on the subject, by far. The sections are broken down in order with a lot of information on every aspect of GBS/Lap Band you would need to know prior to and post surgery. I loaned it to a friend of mine and wish I had kept it as it is a very useful guide to everything from food, water, protein, post surgery emotions, exercise etc. It is a great reference book!
Book Review: Good for beginning the journey but no carry thru for long-termers Summary: 4 Stars
This is a thorough book covering much of the technical information you need going into the surgery and the immediate aftermath. But I'm going on 5 years out of the surgery and looking for information that will help me with the ups and downs of maintaining my weight loss. Fat No More - Long Term Success Following Weight Loss Surgery covers more of those issues - plus it's helpful for those starting out to know what's ahead.
Book Review: Simplicity is a good thing Summary: 5 Stars
Most of the "Dummies" books include the essential facts presented in a way that is useful and painless. This book is no exception. It takes a difficult subject and provides a great reference work to understand the subject.
This book is especially useful to help family members and friends of those considering bariatric surgery to understand the procedures, choices, and post-surgery lifestyle of the patient.
