I purchased this book before my scheduled surgery, read it cover to cover, reread it highlighting important passages and have reread it to reaffirm my choices and checklist the passages since my surgery. Would not go through all of this (six months of prep) without this marvelous book. I think it covers it all or leads you where to investigate reference this life-changing procedure. One former-fat guy recommends it.

This book covers everything anyone contemplating bariatric surgery needs to be aware of. The advice for deciding if you are a good candidate for surgery and for what type covers almost every question you might raise. The realistic discussion in the sections of what happens after the surgery make for realistic expectations. Anyone contemplating weight loss surgery should read this book first.

The book is an easy to read comprehensive review of everything a person needs to know if they are looking into having the surgery, preparing for surgery, going through the after effects of the surgery, or having a loved one go through the surgery. Points are presented in a simple format with lists, recipies and other resources to refer back to even after you read the book.

This book is great! It breaks down anything and everything you could possibly want to know about weight loss surgery and presents it in an easy-to-read manner. As someone getting ready to have a gastric bypass I found this book very helpful and will keep it around me for a long time to come...I'll need it! I highly recommend it to anyone contemplating weight loss surgery.
Book Review: Covering All the Bases Summary: 5 Stars
Of all the books I've read regarding WLS, this is, by far, the most comprehensive. It covers everything from making the decision and dealing with insurance companies to post-op healing and the life-long impact surgery has.
I can't speak highly enough about this book and would suggest it for anyone having (or considering) bariatric surgery.
