Jam-packed with scatological satire; dense with sophmoric humor; crammed full of fecal euphemisms, this comedic book will have you chuckling, whether you find it on a coffee table or tucked away next to a commode. (Have fun, leave a copy in your friend's bathroom and place a couple check marks in the table of contents.)
With a sly wink the book camoflages its MAD magazine lineage by highlighting medical facts co-authored by Anish Sheth, M.D., a gastroenterology assistant professor of medicine at Yale University School of Medicine.
No doubt Sheth is responsible for such passages as "abdominal distension" and "indigestible polysaccharides." However, for every medical term shared co-author Josh Richman's introduces a litany of bowel movement euphemisms, such as "The Green Goblin," "Log Jam" and the "Ring of Fire."
If you're looking for a more serious take on the topic consider Poop Culture: How America is Shaped by its Grossest National Product. If you want to share a giggle with your kids, grab a copy of Taro Gomi's wonderful picture book Everyone Poops. And don't forget The Mad Bathroom Companion: The Gushing Fourth Edition, too.
