Book Reviews of What to Drink with What You Eat: The Definitive Guide to Pairing Food with Wine, Beer, Spirits, Coffee, Tea - Even Water - Based on Expert Advice from America's Best Sommeliers

Book Review: Not very useful in the end
Summary: 2 Stars

This book consists of an A-Z of ingredients. The entries under each ingredient are suggested wines (and other drinks). Maybe a little bit on the high-brow side, but not very. For instance, Burgundy and Bourdeaux remains undivided regions. So one can critique the book for not being detailed enough. The book also contains some useful "theory" behind the suggested matches. This is an interesting reading and it is not snobbish at all. It is not the definitive book on the subject, but you can't go wrong buying this book as an advanced starter.

I don't think the authors deal with wine professionally. That means that they can have a fresh look, but it also means (1) lack of detail and (2) a personal perspective. That makes the book much less interesting to me.

Who should buy? If you are insecure about trusting your own taste. If you are American or Asian. (Europeans are too enthnocentric and would like to have more details about their wine regions)
