Book Review: I'm concerned

I was buying some new books to have when my grandchildren come to visit. One of them is always talking about "when I get bigger," so I thought this would be a great book for him. I read the book when it arrived and I have some concerns. The book begins listing things Little Critter is going to do when he gets bigger such as going to the corner store by himself, crossing the street after waiting for a green light, and going on a bus to grandma and grandpa's. These are things reserved for someone who is quite grown up and I had no problem with them until I got to the next page. On this page, he is going to first grade. Having fought with my son about how he was NOT going to go to the Stop-n-Go by himself when he was 8 or 9, I could see this book giving 1st graders permission to do some things they are clearly not ready to do. I would definitely rate this book higher if it weren't for this one page. It would allow a dialog between parents and child as to when they would be big enough to do these things if this page were not included. Why did this page have to be included?
