Book Reviews of When You Are Engulfed in FlamesBook Review: Usual Sedaris Summary: 4 Stars
As usual with David Sedaris books, the first half made me laugh out loud (sometimes in public places), there is a less well down second half, until you get to the very end which is hilarious again. But for me, the hilarious parts are worth it. If you like the other Sedaris books, you will like this one as well.
Book Review: my favorite by him Summary: 5 Stars
I love love love David Sedaris and this book has some of my all time favorite stories by him in it. Anything that takes place in France is hysterical and I love the coffee making story. I also love all the stories about Japan and the premise behind which he went to Japan. Another home run by David Sedaris.
Book Review: Pretty good, but not his best Summary: 4 Stars
I finished it last night. It was hard for me to read the end where he was chronicaling his stay in Japan. But the last 10 pages or so got me ROFL. A few repeated stories. I think I liked half of this book and the other half (randomly put in) were not good to okay.
Book Review: Yep, it's hilarious. Summary: 4 Stars
I, too, shall be brief. If you at all enjoy laughing until you are overcome with a weak hysteria then you should read this acerbic, heartfelt, witty, insightful collection of essays. Otherwise, turn on your TV; the new Jay Leno show starts at 10 pm.
Book Review: Another Sedaris read worth your time Summary: 4 Stars
It took me a while to get started, but after finishing this book I realized I enjoyed this book as much as any other David Sedaris book.
His humor is not loud but his writing and observations will have you laughing out loud at times.
