What a nice surprise. I brought this book thinking it was solely about cooking, and was pleasantly surprised to find that not only does it have hints and recipes for the kitchen, it also covers subjects like cleaning and laundry care.
Although it is marketed for students, I really think this book is an excellent purchase for anyone who is just starting out living on their own. I am newly married, and have just moved from England to the US - so it isn't always practical to call my mum to ask for advice when I need to know how to deal with a tricky stain, or can't decide what to cook for dinner.
I learned some interesting tidbits just whilst browsing through this book. The writing was very clear and informative, and it didn't make me feel patronized. I haven't tried the recipes yet, but they look very simple (three or four per page) and rather delicious.
I was sorry that there weren't any pictures to accompany the recipes. Perhaps this is simply because the book is not exclusively a recipe book, and the recipes listed aren't too complex. I expect most readers will already be familiar with the majority of recipes listed, so aught to know how it's supposed to turn out.
A definitely good book. Don't be put off thinking that it's just for college students staying away from home for the first time. This is a great book for anyone!
