Book Reviews of White Trash Cooking (Jargon)

Book Review: A wonderful cookbook for everyday use - it's family eating
Summary: 5 Stars

I found this to book to be a handy reference when I just needed something quick to throw together as well as a great source of mind tickling information when I have to plan a formal dinner. Many of us grew up on tomato sandwiches and still eat them all summer standing over the kitchen sink. I believe the photography in the book is fantastic. This cookbook makes you realize that you just can't wait for a family (or church) reunion. Savor the ideas as well as the food.

Book Review: It's Some Good.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is not a mean-spirited parody. This is the stuff you never admit to eating, but you know you want. Cholesterol be damned! You'll never find a good recipe for Chicken Feet anywhere else. You can find authentic recipes for Scripture Cake and Kiss-Me-Not Sandwiches here. I'm a Yankee, but I remember eating No-Stick Peanut Butter Sandwiches as a child. This is a loving look back at our cooking roots, before we got too good to eat Slumgullion.

Book Review: Mother's Day Hit
Summary: 5 Stars

I was tired of getting my mom the typical Mother's Day gifts, so I turned to cookbooks. Instead of typical cookbooks, I got my mother White Trash Cooking and White Trash Cooking II to play on the fact that she and my father relocated to Mississippi in recent years.

While I myself have not had the pleasure of reading these, they were a huge hit. We're just wondering where to get our hands on a cooter to cook up....

Book Review: One of my favorites
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this book for a number of years and I absolutely love it. To be honest the recipes aren't anything new but I am so happy that the author took the time to document these types of heirlooms. My favorite aspect of the book is the photographs which are honest, eye-opening, and funny all at the same time.White Trash Cooking

Book Review: You Are What You Eat? I Am White Trash...
Summary: 5 Stars

Growing up as a child in the 50s in Texas, I ate most of the foods mentioned in this wonderful cookbook and they are still the foods I crave, the comfort foods I depend on, and the foods that linger in my memory, binding forever in my mind & heart the beloved grandmothers, aunts, and assorted relatives who fixed my favorites and served them with large doses of love! This book brings it all back...enjoy..enjoy...enjoy.
