This is an excellent book not just for cooking, but also for the great pictures and the dialogue. I have already found several recipes my Mother and Grandmothers fixed for all of us when I was younger. Great book with awesome pictures. Both of the people I bought it for thought it hysterically funny. Some of the recipes get you giggling (like the possum recipes or the low-cal pick me up)and others have you checking the pantry for the ingredients. I have spent many many hours reading and re-reading this book. This is a cookbook by it's cover but when you get inside and look at the recipes read the words and the see the wonderful photos you'll see that it's a cultural documentation of some very beautiful and proud people.Book Review: Great for that gag gift

i mainly bought this book as a gag gift for a coworker who always claims he had a white trash upbringing...he got a kick out of the cookbook and mentioned there are many recipes he remembers as a kid...anything with lots of ketchup! Mmmm...good.Book Review: This book is as much fun to read as it is to use.

When I saw the picture on the front of this book, I had to pick it up and thumb through it. When I did, I was hooked. I've enjoyed reading the book, looking at the pictures, and using the recipes for years now. It is a true gem!
