Book Review: A masterpiece!!!

I started reading "Who Needs Donuts" in 1974, and have been making steady progress on it ever since. Someday, I hope to finish it. But that is unlikely, for this poignant story is filled with such intricate humorous detail, it is almost impossible to tell if you've completed it! This is a timeless masterpiece for readers of all ages, that until the reissue was available only to the lucky few who managed to get a copy in the 70s. Now that its back, everyone can and should know "Who Needs Donuts".Book Review: Who knew donuts could be so wild and fascinating?

I heard about this book an an Aaron Horkey art gallery exhibit in the Cottonwood County Historical Society's Remick Art Gallery. How oddball is that? I was told that it was one of Mr. Horkey's early inspirations, and I can see why! Each page is worth hours of examination, full of stories and jokes and wild imagination. Even my one-year-old is captivated for minutes at a time (a HUGE compliment). I love this book, and can't believe I didn't discover it until my 30's.Book Review: Finally, a copy of this book!

I was so excited when my mom told me she found "Who Needs Donuts?" on Amazon! We have been searching for my original 70's copies with no luck. I am thrilled to have a brand new copy for my son. I still find this book to be fascinating and wonderfully entertaining. The illustrations are unbelievable. This book was one of my favorites as a child, and now I can enjoy it again as a mother. THIS BOOK HAS GIVEN 2 ADULTS HOURS OF GIGGLES! A CHILDHOOD ABSOLUTE FAVORITE IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR OUR KIDS' CONSUMPTION!! THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING EVERYONE HAS SAID IT IS...SIMPLY AMAZING. THE ONLY THING WE WOULD LIKE MORE IS TO HAVE A CUP OF COFFEE WITH THE AUTHOR TO PICK THAT AMAZINGLY INSANE BRAIN OF HIS!!!

Every page of Mark Alan Stamaty's masterpiece contains a picture or reference to a donut. A plain donut, no frosting. Sam, a slender little boy who wants more donuts than his parents could every buy, embarks on a mission to find donuts in the big city. I won't spoil the ending to Sam's wonderfully-illustrated journey except to say that donuts can save your life. So, who needs "Who Needs Donuts?" You do.
