Book Reviews of Whole Grains Every Day, Every WayBook Review: Learn how to Cook Grains - Great Starting Point Summary: 4 Stars
Lorna has done a great deal of research on the best process for cooking each of the grains listed in her book. My friend and I are cooking through the whole book and calling ourselves the GrainGirls on our blog. Many of her recipes provide creative approaches to prepairing full meals, snacks and side dishes using whole grains in various ways. I'm gaining a greater understanding of how to incorporate whole grains into everything I make for healthy and vitamin packed dishes.
Definitely check it out :) Try starting with the Farro with Tomatoes and Basil (delicious!) or the Kamut Chicken Salad (my office loved it).

Go and eat your grains out!

Book Review: Hearty recommendation Summary: 5 Stars
There is an detailed listing of the various grains available, how to obtain them, their taste, how to use them, their benefits, etc. The recipes I have tried are simple and delightful.
My first attempt was the Barley, Beef and Mushroom Stew. The only problem was keeping the dog out of the kitchen. The aroma was great.
My second dish was the chicken and broccoli stirfry, again with barley, with good results.
If you want to improve your diet in a delicious way, this is the way to go. You can start with a few of the grains and branch out as you become more accustomed to the new (old) way of cooking. I'm loving it.
Book Review: Personal Chefs Network recommends this book! Summary: 5 Stars
I met Lorna Sass in Chicago this year during our annual convention for Personal Chefs Network where she prepared a few recipes from this cookbook. Since I've been home I've prepared many of them with great success. I learned how to use the pressure cooker from her previous books. I highly recommend this book to help you learn the correct way to prepare grains and get to know some unusual grains that will soon be in your local market. When Lorna walked into our convention she had her James Beard award around her neck for this book and she was like an olympic athlete and her gold medal to our crowd of Personal Chefs. Thanks for everything Lorna!
Book Review: Whole grains every day -- REALLY Summary: 5 Stars
This book allows you to REALLY use whole grains every day, in every meal. And, not only will your meals be healthy, but they'll really taste great too. The soups are easy, homey, and delicious winter fare. Some of the most interesting whole grain recipes are found in foods that I never would have thought to put certain grains in (somethimes because I was ignorant as to what they were before this book came out). The pancakes and baked goods that I tried were delicious and I got an education at the same time. Thanks, Lorna, it's another winner!
Book Review: Delicious recipes! Summary: 5 Stars
This book contains many delicious recipes using a variety of grains. I especially like the quinoa and barley recipes; however, every recipe I have tried has been delicious. Also provides tips on the best way to cook the grains for the best results. This book contains recipes you wouldn't necessarily find in a "Betty Crocker" type of cookbook (not that there is anything wrong with Betty Crocker), so if you are looking for a cookbook with a lot of delicious and different book is for you!
