Book Review: Um...
Summary: 3 Stars
Wow!! I feel like I'm obligated to give 5 stars since everyone else seemed to love this book!!!....But I can't. It was just ok for me. I think the beginning was so nerve racking that I almost didn't want to turn to the next page as I didn't think I was ready for what was next!! Sometimes graphic doesn't always mean good. Lol. The graphic in this book made my face cringe. I was literally getting nervous for this girl! Lol!
And I know we all get excited when the characters meet their night in shining armor but I was just relieved that he'd rescued her from her situation however, there was nothing romantic about the 2 of them falling in love because for me, she was still only 15 years old and he was a grown a** man! I mean there's absolutely nothing wrong with dating older men however, a woman should first be of age to do so! What, just because she was forced to mature faster than other kids her age because of the situation she was in and because her big sisterly instincts kick in by wanting to protect her siblings, this should automatically qualify her to dating a grown a** man?! I would have loved to see him wait till she was 18 because the fact that she was 15 was really disturbing to me. I could not sit here and read about the details of their love making with out me thinking "oh my gosh, she's just a baby" not to mention that she was only pleasing him with the techniques that she learned from being out on the streets, which by the way is something she was forced into to protect her siblings and didn't enjoy it one bit!
And last, I feel as though the description in the back of the book was a bit off when it said "will Lucci's thug passion be enough to satisfy Kamone's lustful habits? Or will she run back to the only life she knows?" What lustful habits??? There weren't any! And the only life she knew she was trying to escape from!! That description made it seem like she enjoyed hooking!

Book Review: FAST PACED URBAN NOVEL

THIS BOOK WAS ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD, AND ALOT BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. THIS BOOK WAS HARD FOR ME TO PUT DOWN ONCE I GOT INTO IT. THIS BOOK IS ABOUT A YOUNG GIRL NAMED KAMONE, WHO HAS LITERALLY BEEN USED AND ABUSED BY EVERYONE WHO WAS ANYONE IN HER LIFE. HER MOTHER WAS AN HIV POSITIVE, CRACK HEAD, [...], WHOM WAS JEALOUS OF HER DAUGHTER KAMONE. SHE LEFT KAMONE AND HER HER TWO SIBLINGS, KAMONE WAS FORCED BY HER MOTHERS MADAME (PIMP) INTO A LIFE OF [...]. SHE WAS MANIPULATED TO GO MAKE MONEY OR HERSELF AND HER SIBLINGS WOULD BE REPORTED TO CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES AND BE SEPERATED. KAMONE WENT OUT INTO THE MEAN STREETS, AND INDULGED IN COCAINE TO COPE WITH TURNING TRICKS, THE OTHER [...] ON THE BLOCK WERE JEALOUS OF HER BECAUSE SHE WAS YOUNG, PRETTY , AND FRESH MEAT. ONE OF THE OTHER [...] ON THE STREETS SET KAMONE UP TO BE BEATEN AND RAPED, AND INJECTED WITH HEROIN , AND SHE WAS LEFT FOR DEAD IN A DUMPSTER. KAMONE WAS FOUND BY A MAN NAMED LUCCI. LUCCI TOOK KAMONE IN AND SHELTERED HER, AND GREW TO LOVE HER. LUCCI WAS A BIG TIME DRUG DEALER, WHO LAVISHED KAMONE WITH EVERYTHING, AND RAISED HER TWO YOUNGER SIBLINGS AS HIS OWN CHILDREN. LUCCI WAS THE ONLY MAN KAMONE EVER MET WHOM DIDN'T ABUSE HER AND THROW HER OUT FOR DEAD! LUCCI'S TWIN BROTHER DAVID, IS A REAL MANIAC. HE HIMSELF IS THE DEVIL IN SHEEPS CLOTHING. HE IS A COP, AND INSTANTLY FORMS AN ATTRACTION TO KAMONE, AND DECIDEDS SHE WILL BE HIS WOMAN. HE IS SICK AND TWISTED AND WILL MANIPULATE, AND DO ANYTHING, INCLUDING ABUSING HER TO HAVE HER, AND HE IS WILLING TO LIE CHEAT STEAL AND EVEN KILL HIS BROTHER TO GET TO HIS WOMAN.OVERALL THIS WAS A FAST PACED READ. IT WAS SUSPENSFUL AND HAD BIZARRE TWISTS THAT YOU DONT SEE COMING! I THINK READERS WILL ENJOY THIS BOOK, I DID!!Book Review: THE BEST BOOK I READ IN 2006 HANDS DOWN!!!!!

Whore was the best book in I have read in 2006 hands down!!!! Kamone was a caramel skinned, green-eyed beauty born to a poor white trash junkie prostitute who became infected with HIV and her pimp. Her pimp (Kamone's father) was the first person to introduce her to the world of sex. He raped her at the tender age of 5 and since that day Kamone had bad luck. When her mother left she and her two siblings, Ivory and Paul, Kamone was determined not to let them go to foster care. She partnered with her mother's ex-madam Cookie and prostituted herself to provide for the only family she had left. Kamone was voluptuous by the age of 14 and men were captivated by her beauty. She was the biggest money maker on the stroll until she started using drugs to help her turn tricks. Soon after this, she was gang-raped, beaten, drugged with herion, and left for dead in an alley. Lucci, a notorious criminal with a good heart, took her from the streets and polished her into a diamond. He accepted her past and gave her a second chance at life until his evil twin brother David saw Kamone. He had seen her on the stroll before and wanted her bad because she resembled his mother (he killed his mother and raped her because he was jealous of the bond she and Lucci shared). He would stop at nothing to get Kamone and devised a scheme to get Lucci to put her out. What will become of Kamone and her brother and sister? Will her and Lucci get back together or will she follow in the footsteps of her mother? Whore takes us on a journey from poverty and despair to true love and how the faith in God will help you prevail any obstacle. You have to cop this read to find out!!! MAN this was a PAGE-TURNER!!!! Cop it now!!!Book Review: Juicy, but I just didn't like Kamone that much!

This book had a lot of juicy stuff happen in it, but I just wasn't that connected to Kamone and the outcome. I think the author should have focused a little bit more on developing a background for Kamone. As it stands, the author jumps right into the storyline and it just seems like reading gossip about someone you don't even know.
Summarization:
Kamone is 15 and is being raised by her white mother, Suga. Suga is HIV positive and a drug addict. One day, Suga decides to walk out on Kamone and Ivory and Paul (her much younger sister and brother). Suga walked out because Kamone blurted out to other ho-s that Suga was HIV positive and still tricking.
When Suga left, Kamone had no money and went to the landlord to explain her situation. The landlord, Cookie, said she would report Kamone and her sister and brother to Child Protective Services if she didn't bring her at least $500.00 a night as a hooker.
Kamone agreed and because Kamone was so young and pretty the other ho-s were jealous of her. Anyway, Kamone calls one of the ho-s a fa00ot. The ho sets Kamone up to be raped and to become a junkie. The men threw Kamone in a dumpster and she is found by Lucci.
Lucci forms an attachment to Kamone and the two fall in love and move in together. Lucci's brother, a cop named David, however, wants Kamone for himself. He sets up Kamone and causes Kamone to lose two things very important to her.
My thoughts: Kamone is 15 and a year later at the age of 16 she is now mentoring other girls. Kamone is too young to have all this stuff going on with her; it was a bit much the way the book ended.
Book Review: Life is not a box of chocolates...
Summary: 5 Stars
Kamone's life couldnt get any worse...or so she thought. She is the daughter of an HIV infected mother who prostitues for a living and is addicted to drugs. Her only reason for living at the tender age of 12 is to care for her little brother and sister in hopes that they will never be separated by Child Protective Services. Her mother abandons them, leaving Kamone to care for the three of them on her own with no money or food. Kamone is forced out into the streets to become what her mother was so that she could provide for her brother and sister: A WHORE. Suddenly, her luck has changed and things start to look a little better until she gets hooked on drugs, raped, beaten, and left for dead in a dumpster. Lucci, one of Detroits' biggest hustlers, comes along and finds Kamone in the dumpster but for some reason he just couldn't leave her there. Lucci becomes Kamone's savior, rescuing her from the life she once lived into a life of LUXURY! Just when Kamone thought her life couldnt be anymore perfect, she was faced with hell once again.
Tanika Lynch brings it to you explicitly raw in her novel, Whore. One of the best books I have ever read!!
