Book Review: Learning
Summary: 5 Stars

Windows Vista For DummiesFor years I have used only Windows 98 & Windows 2000, so when I purchased my new computer I was in the dark with Windows Vista. Many friends told me I would not be happy with this program. I was almost ready to return my computer, but I am not a quitter. So, I purchased Windows Vista for Dummies and I've been able to do so much more than I thought possible. This book is my reference to any problems I encounter whenever I'm trying anything new. And I find that it is also humorous and not boring or hard to understand. This book will be helpful to anyone, even those that are computer literate. Thank you Andy Rathbone.

Book Review: My copy was missing the first page...
Summary: 5 Stars

...here is what the first page should say: "If you need this book just buy a Mac!"

Ok, In all seriousness this is a great book for those of you wanting to get to know THE BASICS Windows Vista. It will help you choose the right version, perform the basic configurations, etc.

On a side note:

I have been a Windows user since 3.1. As soon as I used Vista for the first time I immediately switched to Mac. I have been very unimpressed with the performance of Vista; much worse than the initial release of any other Windows Operating system. With the new Intel Core Macs I can now run Windows XP (not Vista) when I need it through Boot Camp or VM Ware (both work great and I would highly recommend).

Book Review: Good Introduction To Windows Vista
Summary: 4 Stars

"Windows Vista For Dummies" is a good read for the person wanting to learn more information about Windows Vista.

Some of the topics covered include:

1. Working with programs and documents.
2. Introduction to Windows Vista.
3. Playing music and movies.
4. Using the internet.
5. Customizing your desktop.

And etc.

While some folks may take issue with the rather bland black and white illustrations, the content is easy to follow and understand. Perhaps the lack of color may explain why the book may be priced lower than other similar titles!

Read, enjoy, and learn!

Recommended.

Book Review: Vista is all but DEAD...
Summary: 3 Stars

At least this is what we hear. So don't bother, right?
Unless you have actually embraced Vista and found some redeeming value from an OS Microsoft appears to be in the process of abandoning.
Helpful? Yes. Somebody actually understands Vista, so you might as well benefit. They 'get it'.
Well written, and will bail you out when Vista does some wierd crap you don't understand. Which might be daily. Or hourly.
If you are gonna buy a book on Vista, it might as well be this one.
Now, YOU can 'get it'.
