Book Review: Awesome!!!

While this book is a bit more pricey I am so very glad I got it! I have been working with square wire making bracelets and wanted to branch out into making pendants with cabochons - this book walks you through measuring the correct lengths of wire, gives good basic knowledge about wire, tools etc, and the authors humor and wit make it less methodical than some books I have seen. I had no trouble following the instructions and pictures. I would definately recommend this book to anyone - a fantastic must have for anyones wirework library!Book Review: Great for Beginners, Easy to Read

I was so excited to receive this book on wire wrapping. I am currently an art student with an emphasis in metalsmithing/jewelry design, but wanted to get a start on some projects before I get deep into courses. This book is amusing to read and easy to follow. The tools needed aren't completely ridiculous as far as price goes (even for a student), and the projects are fun and help anyone feel as though s/he can complete them without extra help. I did not like the book at all. Sent it back right away. I think that the black and white pictures and the descriptions of the techniques seemed to me really unappealing. Nothing to boost my creativity. I usually only look at the picture and figure out the rest. I don't usually need all the instructions, I never follow them anyway. I think that this book is really a step by step guide to do perfect wire wrapping, the explanations are very detailed. This is the best book for beginning wire wrappers. This explains all the basics. Jim explains everything so you can understand it, but doesn't make you feel like an idiot. I got the please of taking a Master Class from him and he taught projects in the book and new ones to be in his upcoming book. I highly recommend this for beginners and even those with some experience. He even tells you how to make it your own and how to spark your creativity. I first saw a wire wrapped pendant 3 months ago and thought it looked like something I could do and enjoy. I started out with simple designs and inexpensive wire. Then I found Jim's book. It's very well written, easy to understand and follow. My wife and our friends are amazed at the pendants I now create (in fact I'm amazed!). Jim is a master who is willing to pass on his secrets. If you are interested in creating wire wrapped works of art...buy this book.
