Book Reviews of Without a Map: A MemoirBook Review: Not what I thought it was going to be Summary: 2 Stars
I thought this book was going to be about a girl who gave up her baby. That storyline constituted about 1% of the book. It was completely underdeveloped. I really struggled to get through this book with all it's random side stories. The description of this book on the cover and on Amazon is really misleading. I wouldn't recommend this book.
Book Review: Beautiful and compelling Summary: 5 Stars
I had used Hall's "Killing Chickens" in my creative nonfiction course. I loved it, so I bought this book. What a powerful life! Hall's writing is rich yet spare. It is heartbreaking at times, but ultimately beautiful.
Book Review: Eminently Readable Summary: 5 Stars
Meredith Hall's writing and her description of people and places are interesting and hold the readers' attention. I would highly recommend this book and am actually on my second reading of it! My interest has not dimmed.
Book Review: too much map Summary: 3 Stars
Although this book started with quite a jump and kept me interested, by the middle I was getting too much redundancy. I'm glad this author told her story and shared it as a tool for relationships and to learn from.
Book Review: Could not get into this book. Summary: 2 Stars
Did not like it. Writer seems to bounce from story to story. I could not really get into this book and ended up reading two other books in between. This book will probably end up on my yard sale box:(
