Book Reviews of Woman: An Intimate Geography

Book Review: Page-turning NONfiction!
Summary: 5 Stars

Echoing the editorial reviews of "Woman: An Intimate Geography", I commend Angier's ability to make a most familiar and seemingly ordinary subject positively effervesce. Her exceptional command of the written language, backed by knowledge both broad and deep, research from all manner of sources, ebullient dramatic flair, and a genuine good old-fashioned sense of humor make this an absolute page-turner. Perhaps the best non-fiction I have or will ever read.

Book Review: Excellent
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is an excellent compilation of feminist ideas couched as theories that you can share with the men in your life to ensure they leave you alone. Very alone. The chapter on yeast infections and the chemical composition of that "off" smell alone makes it a must read for any serious misandrist.

Seriously... pass this one by, but do get the bibliography. The book is a farce, but some of the papers it quotes are good science.

Book Review: Woman: An Amazing Book!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is fantastic. Natalie Angier writes poetically and creatively, and she seems to know a little bit about everything! It's fascinating how she weaves things like evolutionary biology, history, and personal interviews with women into a cohesive story about the female body. It's truly entertaining and educational to read, and has even helped me review for a class that covers reproductive biology!

Book Review: Journalistic Examination of Woman-ness
Summary: 5 Stars

Even though I haven't actually read this book in a couple of years, I constantly refer to it and recommend it to any woman I know. Angier's holistic examination of all things female--from biology to mythology (and/or nasty rumors)--encourages both pride and amazement in the female body and psyche. If you're female, you definately *need* to read Angier's book, which should be required reading in high school.

Book Review: One of my favorites!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just love this book. It gives insight into the possible connections in our lives. Why is painful labor beneficial? Why do we have menopause and other animals do not?... I could go on and on. It provides great insight and a sense of womanly pride. I love science-based books that are not a bore. This is entertaining and I have a new perspective and appreciation for many things that make me a woman!
