Book Reviews of Your Baby's First Year (Second Edition)

Book Review: Exactly what we needed
Summary: 5 Stars

To keep it simple, this book was an easy read with plenty of detail on what to expect for the first year and how to handle even the simple things such as "swaddling" a baby and diaper changes. As we are expecting our first child, this book will be shelved for quick reference and I'm sure, several re-reads. I appreciated the no-nonsense and non-judgmental approach when reading information on feeding (breast vs formula) and sleeping (co-sleeping vs crib/bassinet) of our newborn.

Book Review: Fabulous Resource
Summary: 4 Stars

This book really is helpful. There are so many books out there for each week and month of pregnancy, but I couldn't find a really good one for childhood. This one is really great. It is detailed (doesn't just say ask your pediatrician) and brings up a lot of stuff that I never would have thought of. The only drawback is that the index is a little screwy. It is not always a hundred percent accurate. It is easy to work around it though.

Book Review: So glad I have this book
Summary: 5 Stars

It is very in depth, provides great, easy-to-process information and pretty much has answered any questions I've had so far. It written informatively but not preachy and gives you what you want to know without giving too much or too little info. I think this should be a staple purchase for any new parent.
EDIT: I'm just had my second child and still refer to this book often. Very informative and comprehensive.

Book Review: Outdated
Summary: 1 Stars

This book has outdated information regarding circumcision. A natural, intact penis is easier to care for than a bloody, traumatized one. The authors need to release an updated version that takes into account that half of baby boys born today are left whole, and those parents need correct, up to date information regarding care of the intact penis...which is basically "leave it alone."

Book Review: Informative for first timers
Summary: 5 Stars

As a first time mom I found this book to be very informative. Plus for me it made a difference that it was written by Pediatricians and that no one was paid to give advice by certain companies.

I really liked the section on breast feeding and found some great information overall in this book. It was recommended to me and I will definitely be recommending to others.
