Book Review: Saved me from Knee surgery

I was just about ot have knee replacement surgery, and my friend Dr John Mullin suggested I try this hydration therapy first-in three days my pain was greatly reduced -in ten days pain and swelling reduced-I am walking wihtout a limp. 1/4 tesp of sea salt in a glass of water every day allowed me to cancel my surgery. I also have more energy which at 57 is a welcome thing.

It is beginning to be accepted that many illnesses which today plague countless millions of people worldwide spring from a simple, unrecognised cause - we don't drink enough water. This is the medical discovery that Iranian-born Dr Batmangheldj outlines in this book - and if we drank more water daily, he says, many degenerative diseases could be prevented and sometimes cured. Dr Batmanaghelidj first discovered the curative powers of water in a crowded Tehran prison where he was held during the 1979 revolution. The only medic among 3,000 terrified prisoners, in desperation he prescribed a single glass of water for an inmate dying of intense stomach pain - and the man recovered within minutes. In that moment, he asserts, "a new era in the advancement of medical science was born". After his release nearly three years later, he escaped to the United States to begin leading his own gentle, healthcare revolution from his home in Virginia. Largely ignored by the American Medical Association after presenting his findings to them nearly twenty years ago, his defiant response was to write this book.As a result of extensive research into the role of water in the body, the author, a medical doctor, believes that he has found chronic dehydration to be the cause of many conditions including asthma, allergies, arthritis, angina, migraine headaches, hypertension, raised cholesterol, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, depression, and diabetes in the elderly.
According to Dr. Batmanghelidj, the body possesses many different thirst signals. A dry mouth is not a reliable indicator of your body's water needs. He describes a variety of more reliable ones, and helps you learn to understand when your body is calling for water. In this way, he claims you can prevent, treat, and cure a variety of conditions of ill health, at no cost, with what he calls nature's miracle medicine: Water. The author explains how much water one needs to drink a day to stay healthy, and why tea, coffee, and sodas are not good substitutes for water.
