Summary of Your Guy's Guide to Gynecology(from the Foreword) In today's world, men must understand and be sensitive to the needs of women. How is this accomplished? First, it must be important to you and, second, you must read this book. Doctors Bekkar and Wahn have made a major contribution to lessening the "War of the Roses." They have taken gynecology, the medical speciality that deals with disease and care of the female reproductive system, and made it practical and understandable. If Adam had read this book before he entered the Garden, this effort would be superfluous now, but he didn't, and it isn't.... Obstetrics, the medical speciality that deals with the birth and its antecedents and sequelae, gets all the publicity. There are a plethora of books, tapes, and CD's for expectant mothers, fathers, siblings, and grandparents on all pregnancy-related topics. The involved male has nine months to do the right thing. Finally, he has a reference source that is a superb combination of succinct technical information blended with a witty, down-to-earth writing style that you will enjoy reading. To be a successful, enlightened gynecologist, or a successful, communicating male, you have to be part psychiatrist. Cyclicity, or the lack thereof, between the brain and the female reproductive system is the major physiologic link that dictates all "basic female stuff." If you understand this concept then you are well on your way, and this book will help you complete your journey. The nice thing about owning it, and it should be a reference source in your library, not borrowed sporadically from the local library, is that it can grow old as the women you know gracefully age. Right now, "Bumps, Dips, and Owies" may be your primary concern, but, years from now your frayed copy will still be there when you need to know how to repel the "Attack of the Killer Hormones." Although the book is for the "hulking beasts," the authors have cleverly entitled it YOUR GUY'S GUIDE TO GYNECOLOGY. Drs. Bekkar and Wahn know who is going to buy this guide and give it to those who think "a vulva is a Swedish sports sedan." Without a doubt, they have filled a void in many bookshelves and many lives. If you are reading this foreword, start spreading the news.
